Recap 2024

The third year of Recap. This time, Recap included six different images per account: ARAM, SoloQ, FlexQ, Arena, Normal and all of them together.

It was available from December 1, 2024 until the end of January 2025.

As in previous years, a queue system calculated the data, downloading games from the Riot API and processing them. This year the queue system was more efficient and faster, with a bigger rate limit: it could fetch up to 19,200 games per minute. But this year it fetched every match, not only ARAM, so it could take a little longer.

Usage

You needed a LoboBot account to make a Recap. You went to the Recap page at lobobot.com/recap, added your account and waited for your turn in the queue.

If the queue was long, I recommended waiting a bit: you could come back later and see how fast the queue was moving.

Queue

Every 20 seconds, LoboBot processed 4 accounts per cluster (Europe, Americas, Asia and SEA) because of the Riot API rate limit. The process was set to use up to 80% of the rate limit per region, so it could fetch up to 19,200 games per minute across all clusters.

After your recap was processed, you saw all the Recap types, and you clicked them one by one to generate the images.

If a recap said "Not enough matches", the account did not have enough games for that Recap type: the minimum was 10 games per Recap type.

Limitations

I didn't store every game in my database (as geozukunft does), and the Riot API only let me fetch the last 1,000 games per account. If you played more than 1,000 games that year, the Recap only counted the last 1,000.

Not many people play more than 1,000 games a year, so it was not a big limitation, but in some cases it was, and some months were missing.

Shiny probabilities

Every time a Recap was calculated (for every Recap type), a die was rolled to decide whether the image would be shiny. The probability was 1/4096 for each image, so if you calculated all six images, the probability of getting at least one shiny was 1/683.

A shiny Recap was the same as a normal Recap, but with a shiny background and a red star in the top right corner.

Known issues

  • Snowballs and snowball hit rate: there was a known issue with snowballs in the Riot API: snowball casts and recasts were counted as spell casts. On top of that, I tested it myself in a game, casting a snowball and then recasting it, and the Riot API counted it 3 times xD. So the snowball hit rate might be a little off.

  • Challenges as Rank #1, 0%: there was a known issue with challenges: the rank #1 challenge did not work properly. Sometimes Riot returned the wrong data, and it was a known issue on their side.
